Vi una película mientras comía mi desayuno.

Hello, i would like to ask you if the sentence is correct.

Also i would like to ask you if i can write it like this: "Vi una película mientras comer mi desayuno." or "Vi una película mientras estuve comiendo mi desayuno."

And can i write it with imperfect or progressive on "ver" instead of preterite?

HI Daniel, well, we don't say comer el desayuno, that would be tomar el desayuno.

So:

Ví / estuve viendo una película mientras tomaba/estuve tomando el desayuno.

However, this sounds still odd, as there is the verb: desayunar.

So the best option.

Estuve viendo una peli mientras desayunaba.

(here it is clear you are doing both at the same time)

For me
Vi una película mientras comía el desayuno is ok.
Vi una película mientras comer..........is wrong.
Vi una película mientras estuve comiendo ......is wrong.
Vi una pelicula mientras estaba comiendo..... is ok.

I agree it's much better to say Tomar el desayuno than Comer el desayuno. Or also using the verb desayunar.

The good ones then would be Vi una ..........mientras tomaba el desayuno .
Vi una..........mientras desayunaba.
vi una ..........mientras tomaba el desayuno.
Vi una ...... mientras estaba desayunando.

Your sentence is not correct!

Yes, you can use the imperfect to talk about something you were doing at the same time as another action was taking place.

Heidi and Polenta have given you some excellent answers as natives, but I think you could also say:

Veía una película mientras tomaba el desayuno

Veía una película mientras estaba tomando el desayuno

The authors of 501 Spanish verbs (7th edn) say this about the imperfect:

This tense is used to express: (a) an action that was going on in the past at the time as another action. Example: Mi hermano leía y mi padre hablaba = My brother was reading and my father was talking.
