Word of the Day Game Ideas
Hi, everyone:
I just learned that there is no chance that administrator's will provide future words of the day anymore because they are changing the way they select a new word of the day every day. I'm very disappointed but I respect the fact that administrators have to make the best decisions they can for the site as a whole. Without them we wouldn't even have a forum!
I was wondering if anyone feels good about the concept of coming up with our own Words of the Day for the game, separate from SD's Word of the Day. Perhaps we can submit Word of the Day ideas for the game and sample sentences to Amber. That way, Amber would have full control on when to come out with the Word of the Day assignment and she'd be able to provide upcoming Words of the Day for the game. Of course, this would have to be okay with Amber and administrators. I personally loved the early evening time for opening up the new day's assignment. It would also solve my problem with creating graphics in time but I acknowledge I'm alone in that department so I'm not expecting anyone to rally behind me on that. But I do think I'm not the only one that appreciated the early evening time for opening up the game.
Any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.
If nothing can be worked out I still love the site and I believe we are in the best of times since I've been on SD with all the activity and excitement. ![]()

Hi sas, this is of course completely up to Rac, it is her thread and she must decide.
However, what you are suggesting would give her a lot of work.
We did this before...we didn't go with the "official" word of the day but the thread owner created his own, so did Pesta on the other forum, or Goyo.
If you don't have an "official" word of the day, you have to make a list, find somebody to create and check the example sentences. Trust me, all that takes a lot of work.
Anyway, sas, I truly believe you can create a sentence and even graphics along the way, and if you can't create a graphic one day due to lack of time, well, just post the sentences. We do home we won't lose you on the thread.....but personally I know the load of work it would be for Rac to change the system.
I am sorry everyone. There can only be one Palabra Del Dia. I'm sorry it doesn't fit your time schedules. I really am.
It comes out, my time, (Central) at 11:00PM, and I will post it then, but that's the best we can do on this. We have to stick to what the admins. want. The word of the day has Never fit everyone's time schedule. That's unfortunately the way it is.
I'm with Amber on this one sorry Sassy. I think you have to pick your battles and this one may not be worth the fight. I know you like time to work on your graphics, but as far as what actual time you answer the word of the day that doesn't really matter. Most of us return to the games over a 24 hour period to check out the new entries, and to vote for them.
I had the luxury of being one of the first to see the Wotd under the old system, but will now be one of the last to post most days. That won't worry me though as I know others will be back to check out everyone else's posts.
So, my advice would be to do what you have always done and post when you can. I, and everyone else I'm sure, will still appreciate your efforts no matter when they appear ![]()

That could work, or the other thing we could do is just have the Word of the Day on the forum game run a day or two (or a week or a month) behind the SD Word of the Day. Many folks (myself included) get the Word of the Day on our personal e-mail, and only a dozen or so actually post for the game. Those of us who post to the game would simply not look at the SD word of the day.
I think that it would create a ton of work for Amber if she had to come up with her "own" word of the day. So I think that we should do whatever is easiest for Amber.
Would it work to simply pause the game for one day? Then Amber would have had the word a day in advance and could post any time she wants.
I do enjoy having the word posted before I retire in the evening. Otherwise the thread is very old news by the time I start my day. Maybe, though, members in other time zones have different preferences.
