How to Enlarge / Improve Image Posts.

A couple of days ago in the Picture of the Day I edited in a larger image and Amber was curious as to how this was done. I thought it best to post the answer here so that anyone wondering how to do this could benefit.

This tip works for Chrome, but it's more than likely other browsers have a similar feature. If you right click on an image an option will appear: Search Google for image. Click this and let Google do some work.

Sometimes, if the picture is unique, only the original pic will appear in the results, but most of the time many results will be returned. Chrome offers these in three sizes. It will all depend on the resolution of your screen, but small images, 400 x 400 or less, will generally appear small in the SD format. Medium images towards the 800 x 800 mark should fill the allotted space, and large images over 800 x 800 will normally be reduced to fit.

Select the image size you prefer and Chrome will offer all the different versions available. Click on the one you want and you are done.

Apart from resizing, this image search can also find the following if the need arises:

Same image without watermark.
Same image without, or with different, caption.
Better quality (as well as resolution) image.
Image with an SD friendly (no gaps) address.

I also think many of Nickelbackfan's images deserve to be seen in their full glory, so often I'll Google search the image to find the best quality / highest res version just for the viewing pleasure smile
