¿Cómo se dice "Sister Organisations"?

¿Cómo se dice "Sister Organisations"?

I looked for a post like this but couldn't find one, if anyone can point me to one it would be appreciated. Otherwise I wanted to know how to say a sister organisation in Spanish, for example a sister site to Spanish Dict or a sister charity, meaning a related or associated organisation. Can you use "hermana" as an adjective in this context? "Empresa hermana"? Or "Empresa asociada"?

If you search google for organizaciones hermanas and organizaciones afiliadas you will get some hits. I don't know which is more common but you can probably figure that out with some googling. - DilKen, Jul 31, 2017

Hello jg,

Welcome to our Spanishdict community forum smile

You asked:

¿Cómo se dice "Sister Organisations"? I looked for a post like this but couldn't find one, if anyone can point me to one it would be appreciated. Otherwise I wanted to know how to say a sister organisation in Spanish, for example a sister site to Spanish Dict or a sister charity, meaning a related or associated organisation. Can you use "hermana" as an adjective in this context? "Empresa hermana"? Or "Empresa asociada"?

You could try:

organizaciones afiliadas o organizaciones asociadas smile

Empresas afiliadas sounds much better /more natural to me than empresas hermanas which is too literal although it could possibly be understood by many natives who might offer to correct your Spanish but it might possibly cause a few laughs or raised eyebrows, too!

I am not a native Spanish speaker, I am a high intermediate level student, but I usually offer fairly accurate and well thought-out answers

I hope this helps smile

Corrijan mi español si es necesario, por favor smile

Feliz. You were right on the money. I posted any answer showing the use of organizaciones afiliadas to prove you right :) - DilKen, Jul 31, 2017

I haven't heard empresas hermanas. What I've heard is "ciudades hermanas".

Why don't you write the name of the company and next to it "empresa similar" or "empresa parecida". Empresa or organización.

Feliz was right on with his answer. Following is some text from the following link that clearly shows the use of the term organización afiliada. I also found several websites that used the term organizaciones hermanas. If it is important to you to know which is more common, and where, if you do some googling I'm sure you can figure it out. smile

Organizaciones Afiliadas
