19th century short sword search
I'm restoring a short sword I bought at a close out sale from an antique store. It a brass handled short sword with a eagle head on the handle .
The following is engraved on the blade, if you know what it means or if there is a history attached to it, I would love to hear back. In buying the blade, I felt more obligated to restoring it then I did wanting anything back as a reward fornowning it. We only borrow things in this world. I'm simply taking care of that which one man can no longer tend to.
This is a OAXACA stamped short sword, seems to be unique and one of a kind engraving on it. It's balance and shape alone make it a pure work of art. I handle it and feel as though it alone could turn me into a sword fighter.

Oaxaca is the capital city of Oaxaca state in México. You can google it if you wish. That's all I can tell you. I'm not a sword enthusiast. Is it just an eagle's head that is engraved? The national "logo", ah... "coat of arms" of México is an eagle with a snake in its talons.
Hi Brian, I guess you would like to know what this means:
" Mi mujer y mi caballo se me hon perdido al mismo Tiempo mi mujer dios la perdone mi caballo es la que siento."
I lost both my wife and my horse at the same time. My wife, God forgive her. My horse, that loss really grieves me .
