batir ( bah-TEER )

verb ( to beat, to whip )

Welcome to La Palabra Del Día

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speakers suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Creo que el único método adecuado de preparar un chile relleno es separar las yemas de los claros las claras, batir las claras hasta que formen picos firmes, y luego incorporar las yemas, lo que no es un proceso simple, pero ha sido servido incluso lo que pareció un chile envuelto con un omelette.

I believe the only proper way of preparing a chile relleno is to separate the yolks from the whites, beat the whites until they form stiff peaks, and then fold in the yolks, which is not a simple process, but I have been served even what looked like a chile wrapped with an omelette.

I always fold half the whites into the egg gently then the other half it is fluffier that way around. - ray76, Jul 26, 2017
You can come and cook for me. This looks delicious! - rac1, Jul 26, 2017
The second probably tastes good, but it is not a proper chile relleno, which should have an incredibly light airy batter. The whole process is time consuming. It is my test dish for a Mexican restaurant- that and molé. :) - bosquederoble, Jul 26, 2017
That is a lot of work, but they are sooo god :-)! - Jraider, Jul 26, 2017
Roast the pepper, skin the pepper, make picadillo, stuff the pepper with it, make the egg mixture, fry it, make your red sauce, put it on top and bake it. Ay. :) - bosquederoble, Jul 26, 2017
Just say No to mole. Yuck! - rac1, Jul 26, 2017
Have you had good molé. As made in Oaxaca, not as made by bad restaurants in the US. It has nothing to do with animal that digs through my yard. :) - bosquederoble, Jul 26, 2017

Some people prefer whipping cream by machine than manual labor. Algunas personas prefieren nata industrial a nata montada a mano.

Nice ones Ian. It seems "batir" has as many meanings in Spanish as "beat" does in English, and many of them the same. By the way, I notice the last spam attack was singular and over 20 mins ago. Progress perhaps? - jellonz, Jul 26, 2017
