moler ( moh-LEHR )

(verb) to grind; to crush

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speakers suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

En mi juventud tuvimos de ese tipo de molino , para moler carne y fue bastante difícil trabajar con aquello. Pero aparecieron los molinos eléctricos y el trabajo se volvió fácil.

In my youth we had that type of mill, to grind meat and it was quite difficult to work with them. But the electric mills appeared and the work became easy.

I think you need an accent over the e in café :) I know I'm being picky. - Sassette, Jul 23, 2017
I grind my own. Much better taste to me. :) - rac1, Jul 23, 2017
Thanks, Sassette. You're not being picky; I'm being careless. - AnnRon, Jul 23, 2017
I grind my own in the afternoon, but first thing in the morning I use my Keurig: cuppa in 40 seconds. - AnnRon, Jul 23, 2017

En los mandibulados (crustáceos, miriápodos e insectos) hay varias piezas bucales, y la estructura varía entre y dentro de los grupos, pero siempre es los mandibulados que son responsables de cortar y moler la comida si el animal se alimenta de esta manera, en contraste con los quelicerados, los cuales no tienen mandibulados.

In the mandibulates (crustaceans, myriapods and insects) there are a number of mouthparts, and the structure varies between and within the groups, but it is always the mandible that are responsible for cutting and grinding the food if the animal feeds that way, in contrast with the chelicerates, which do not have mouthparts.

Note, saying crustaceans and insects is kind of like saying dinosaurs and birds, but probably less apt to confuse most people. :) - bosquederoble, Jul 23, 2017
Kudos to those that fully understand that statement.;) - bosquederoble, Jul 23, 2017
Thank you. :) - rac1, Jul 23, 2017
I suspect for most people they care little about the information. But It was something I could write something of reasonable length for practice with. :) - bosquederoble, Jul 23, 2017

Una vez alguien nos regaló un molinillo de café, pero la usábamos poco, porque somos perezosos y moler café toma mucho tiempo.

Once someone gave us a coffee grinder as a gift, but we seldom used it, because we´re lazy and grinding coffee takes up too much time.

Los granos de trigo se muelen para producir la harina. En el pasado era común usar la energía del agua en un rio para hacer girar las piedras de moler.

Grains of wheat are ground to produce flour. In the past it was common to use the energy of water in a river to turn the grinding stones.
