search answers

Question

I like the post one letter changes all. Can I search the answers to see if what I have found is already in the post. If so how. Thank you.

The following method should work:

Copy the url of the post you are interested in. In this case it is:

www.spanishdict.com/answers/292994/game-one-letter-changes-all-

Do a google search for the word you are wondering about and add site:(url)

For example, I found the word "expensive" in the post.

I did the following google search:

"expensive" site:www.spanishdict.com/answers/292994/game-one-letter-changes-all-

I got one hit, the original url of the post. Google knows that the word "expensive" IS in that post.

Then I tried "butterball" - just some random word I thought up that I figured would NOT be in the post.

"butterball" site:www.spanishdict.com/answers/292994/game-one-letter-changes-all-

No hits. This proves that the word "butterball" is NOT in the post.

Understand?

The only reason that I can think of why this might not always work is that Google Search is not updated in "real time" Very recent additions to the post won't be found with this method. I don't know how often Google Search is updated for SpanishDict.com but I suspect it is updated several times per day.

If you sort the answers by newest, you could do a "search on page" to see if the word you're wondering about is in the post. I don't know of any way to search for words in the entire post using this method unless you did one page at a time. That's why I like the Google search method I explained above for questions with many pages of answers.
