Spanish English translation help

El objeto de éste trabajo es analizar el peso de la mujer dentro de los órganos rectores en las sociedades cooperativas, y su importancia como miembro activo dentro de estas. Por tanto, con este análisis se pretende dar a conocer la situación actual de la mujer dentro de las Sociedades Cooperativas analizadas, y evaluar su presencia tanto en los Consejos Rectores como en la Dirección General. Para ello, se han analizado un total de 309 empresas cooperativas españolas pertenecientes a los sectores de Alimentación y Bebidas. Los resultados obtenidos muestran la baja presencia las mujeres en los Consejos de Administración y en la Dirección General de las cooperativas. Los resultados también muestran que existe una asociación entre la presencia de la mujer en estos órganos y la obtención de rentabilidades superiores.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the weight of women within the governing bodies in cooperative societies, and their importance as an active member within them. Therefore, this analysis aims to raise awareness of the current situation of women within the Cooperative Societies analyzed, and evaluate their presence in both the Governing Boards and the General Directorate. To this end, a total of 309 Spanish cooperative companies belonging to the Food and Beverage sectors have been analyzed. The results obtained show the low presence of women in the Boards of Directors and in the General Directorate of the cooperatives. The results also show that there is an association between the presence of women in these organs and the achievement of superior returns.

Small suggestion - you can be elected to a board of directors or be a member of the board of directors, but I would say 'women on the board of directors. You could use on or in the general directorate.

I think that you've done a very nice job translating this. I do question capitalizing in the English translation some of the things capitalized in the Spanish. You might want to look at those again and ask yourself if you would capitalize cooperative societies, board of directors, etc. if they hadn't been capitalized in Spanish. I also prefer "bodies" for "órganos" in the last sentence which is how you translated it in the first sentence but "organs" certainly isn't wrong.

¡El texto está realmente bien!

Yo personalmente cambiaría "existe una asociación entre...", por, "existe una relación entre...". A pesar de que ambas palabras hagan referencia a una relación, bajo mi punto de vista en este contexto es más apropiado decir relación. Te dejo por aquí la definición que da la RAE para la palabra asociación.

asociación 1. f. Acción y efecto de asociar o asociarse. 2. f. Conjunto de los asociados para un mismo fin y, en su caso, persona jurídica por ellos formada. 3. f. Ret. Atribución a muchos de algo que solo es aplicable a varios o a uno solo, generalmente con el fin de atenuar el propio elogio o la censura de los demás.

Como dato interesante, la palabra "éste" como pronombre demostrativo no hace falta acentuarlo. Antaño, la RAE aconsejaba acentuarlo en caso de ambigüedad, pero desde 2010 la RAE recomienda no acentuarlo, ya que es una palabra aguda acabada en vocal.

In my opinion I will change "existe una asociación entre...", to, "existe una relación entre...". Both words make reference to a relation, but, because of the context I think that “relación” sounds better. Here you have the definition that the RAE gives to the word “asociación” :

asociación 1. f. Acción y efecto de asociar o asociarse. 2. f. Conjunto de los asociados para un mismo fin y, en su caso, persona jurídica por ellos formada. 3. f. Ret. Atribución a muchos de algo que solo es aplicable a varios o a uno solo, generalmente con el fin de atenuar el propio elogio o la censura de los demás.

As a piece of interesting information, the word “éste” as a demonstrative pronoun, is not necessary to put an accent mark on it. In the past, the RAE used to advise people to put the accent mark for the ambiguity cases, but nowadays, since 2010 the RAE advices not to put the accent mark on this word, because is an “aguda” word (the “strong” syllable is at the end), and the word ends with a vocal.
