Spanish Comp. Class (K-12)

Hello,

I will be entering a Spanish composition course at my middle school in the upcoming school year, and want to learn the basics before the year starts. In my mind, the main points of improvement would include: the tenses, parts of speech, simple style, and vocabulary.

I do know how to write basic sentences and maybe even simple paragraphs in Spanish, but am not quite into the level of writing complete essays that are grammatically correct. Furthermore, I have been a speaker of the language for more than two years but have never bothered to learn correct grammar(i.e usted vs tú, su vs sus) until the recent month. Don't worry about that, though, as I have learned the ways to address someone both in a familiar and formal way.

One recent example(written yesterday) is depicted below.

"En el tiempo del rey Colombia, un niño pequeño vivío en una cabaña naranja. Su nombre fue Naranjón Pelota Cabello. Originalmente, "Pelota Cabello" no tenía un parte en el nombre; sin embargo, los amigos del niño llamaban a Naranjón "Pelota Cabello". Tristemente, el racon fue que el niño no puedia cortarse el pelo."

Only four weeks are left before school begins, so that time has to be used efficiently. I can allot one hour to the language each weekday and thirty mintues to an hour each weekend. Do you have any suggestions of what to master before entering the class?

Thanks in Advance,

A
