¿Cómo se dice 'Top of the Bench'?
There is a chemistry competition known as the "Top of the Bench" competition. The bench part refers to the tables in a laboratory and I'm not really sure how to write a fluent-sounding Spanish translation. I've tried "Lo mejor de la mesa laboratorio" does that sound OK or can anyone think of a better way to translate it? Edit: To be clear, it's a competition with groups of the best students from each school who will represent their school and then they compete to find which group is "Top of the Bench". Hay un concurso de química que se llama "Top of the Bench". El banco parte se trata las mesas en un laboratorio y no estoy segura como escribir una traducción española con fluidez. Intenté "Lo mejor de la mesa laboratorio" ¿suena bien o alguien puede pensar de una traducción mejor?

Jgzrt, when you say: 'Top of the bench', are you referring to the best group of students sitting at the tables, who have obtained the best results in the chemistry competition or the best overall student, please? In other words is this a group or individual prize/award?

that would be it.

Lo mejor de lo mejor del laboratorio
the best of the best from the lab
Los más de lo más del laboratorio
The very best of the lab

I have two suggestions:
¿Qué tal: lo mejor del grupo? / How about, "lo mejor del grupo"? = The best of the group
or perhaps more precisely: Lo mejor estudiante de química del grupo = The best chemistry student of the group
Update:Following further clarification from the questioner: jg it is now clear that he is referring to the best group in the class!

Oh ok, thanks I didn't realise I wasn't clear. I meant the competition is called this as it tries to find the group who is the best. There are groups from lots of schools and they compete to find which school is "Top of the Bench". - jgzrt6ut7u 2 hrs

I have based my answer on the information that you have given us that each bench represents a group of students competing for the chemistry prize. I am sure that native Spanish teachers could easily come up with something much better or improve upon what I have suggested!
