Que quiere decir: "a lavado sea Dios?" ......

Creo que es una bendición de alguna forma, pero no entiendo lo que diga. Lo he oido dos veces, en el serie "La última Frontera," y "The Handmaid's Tale." Traté de buscar la traducción por el sitio aquí, pero no la tenía sentido.

I don't feel like good questions like this should serve as an opportunity for Christians to proselytize as I believe one entry does. Religion shouldn't be about recruiting people. - Sassette, Jul 8, 2017

ha sido un placer, esperamos verte de nuevo, amigo :) - 006595c6, Jul 4, 2017
I kind of like the concept of "washed be God", though. Quite a mental picture! - Gekkosan, Jul 5, 2017
Gekko, interesting, even if a little "edgy." Could also be then, "God washes all/everyone," or even "God cleanses us all" (of our sins of course)!) - ynotcookit, Jul 5, 2017

There is a word for word translation of this (except for the word order) that English speakers use that even has the flavor of the Spanish subjunctive.

"God be praised!"

Salmos 146:1-2 ¡Aleluya! ¡Alabado sea el Señor! Alaba, alma mía al Señor. Alabaré al Señor toda mi vida, mientras haya aliento en mí, cantaré salmos a mi Díos.

Psalm 146:1-2 Praise the Lord O my soul. I will praise the Lord all y life, I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

(I chose this because 3 forms of the word were used in these 2 verses)

Por ejemplo, he visto todos los episodios de "Juego de Tronos" (Game of Thrones) de 6 or 7 temporadas. Cada episodio de "Juego de tronos" empieza con un aviso que dice: "for mature audiences only." Y así también "American Gods." En ese contexto "alábame" probably translates to "worship me," rather than "praise me." jmo smile

wow, Juego de Tronos, eso es muy difícil de entender...enhorabuena, yo lo veo en inglés smile

Worship...of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nobody thought of that , good job!

Grácias por felicitarme! En actualidad, no era fácil. Escuchaba la primera temporada más que 6 veces, además una vez en inglés para entender la tema general. Pero ya puedo entender casi cualquier sin traducir palabra por palabra en mis pensamientos. - ynotcookit, Jul 6, 2017
Por cierto no comprendo todo, pero cada serie tiene su propio rango de nuevas palabras, y así aumento el vocabulario (y la sabiduría)! :) - ynotcookit, Jul 6, 2017

ynot, gekko was joking or being sarcastic, but trust me, this is a spelling problem, polenta is right, no washing is taking place here wink

No worries Heidi, just having some fun with it, although admittedly got carried away it -- lo siento. (I understood your first response as "the best answer," and so it will remain! -- but with high "praise" to echo & Daniela as well.) - ynotcookit, Jul 5, 2017
Heidi cont.: Interestingly, I heard it used again last night in a much different and more salacious context in "American Gods:" "alabame" which also clearly had nothing to do with "washing" -- at least not in any literal sense! - ynotcookit, Jul 5, 2017

All kinds, (wink, wink)! But only if translated into Spanish or "Latino." Usually anything from Netflix, Amazon Prime, Starz, HBO, Hulu etc. Por ejemplo, he veido cada episodio de "Juego de Tronos" (Game of Thrones) de 6 or 7 temporadas. - ynotcookit, Jul 5, 2017
