Welcome to La Palabra Del Día

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speakers suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

How to post a picture

Examples:

1: Come más despacio para que puedas saborear bien la comida.

Eat more slowly so that you can properly savor the meal.

2: La revista recomienda tres tapas españolísimas para saborear cuando uno esté en Madrid.

The magazine has recommendations for three quintessential Spanish tapas to enjoy while in Madrid.

Hoy iba a cocinar jambalaya para la cena, pero saboreamos una comida grande en un restaurante con nuestra hija menor, y ahora puedo anunciar que ella también está embarazada (con una fecha del parto en febrero), y después tomamos helado. La mayor ya está un día tarde y tuvo acupuntura hoy para acelerar el proceso. Todavía estamos esperando la llamada.

Today I was going to cook jambalaya for dinner, but we savored a large lunch in a restaurant with our younger daughter, and now I can announce that she also is pregnant (with a due date in February), and afterwards we had ice cream. The older one is already a day late and had acupuncture today to accelerate the process. We are still waiting for the call.

Congrats again Bosque. They're coming thick and fast now :) My wife had 48 hour labours with both our girls. By the end of the last one the midwife was more concerned with my health than hers. I hope the waiting is over soon. - jellonz, Jul 1, 2017

The acupuncture was her method of inducing labor. It will be interesting to see how far into labor she gets before she allows them to give her chemicals (we're lucky she agreed to go to a hospital). It will surely not occur before labor. :) - bosquederoble, Jul 1, 2017
