mimar ( mee-MAHR )

(verb) to pamper; to spoil

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speakers suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Examples:

1: En nuestro spa, mimamos a nuestros clientes lo más que se pueda.

In our spa, we pamper our clients as much as possible.

2: Si lo sigues mimando así, va a ser bien malcriado.

If you keep spoiling him like that, he's going to turn into a brat.

Dentro de unos pocos días mi esposa tendrá su primer nieto para mimar, solo quedan dos días hasta la fecha del parto, y nuestro hija ya ha tenido unas pocas contracciones aunque solo unas pocas.

Within a few days my wife will have her first grandson to spoil, only two days remain to the due date, and our daughter has already had a few contractions although only a few.

Sadly, I think that's true, Amber. - AnnRon, Jun 28, 2017
Hi Ann. Yes, my entry was a direct rip-off of yours :) I'm interested in which (if either, or both) of our treatments of "more than" is correct. If Heidi or someone else can advise? - jellonz, Jun 28, 2017
I had yours at first and decided to risk something different. Maybe we'll learn something. :-) - AnnRon, Jun 28, 2017

No mimar a tu novio demasiado, dejar que le mimen y tu permanecer fascinante.

Don't pamper your boyfriend too much, let him pamper you , and stay alluring.

Podría mimar mis amigos con regalos, pero creo que ya tienen demasiadas cosas.

I could pamper my friends with gifts, but I think that they already have too many things.

Does anyone know if "cosas" can translate as "stuff" in English? ~ "too much stuff" is what I would say in English..enter image description here

It's your birthday, you should take the day off, just to pamper yourself. Es tu cumpleaños, deberías tomar el día libre, sólo para mimarte a ti mismo.
