Spanish Keyboard
can I get a spanish keyboard option added to my computer or does it have to be something installed when I purchase the computer?

Most operating systems have the option of changing the keyboard language. Sometimes it is annoying because you need to guess where everything is; when I had Microsoft I liked the option "international-us" because everything remains more or less the same but you have the "ñ" and all the accents.
Hello!
This previous post on configuring keyboard to other languages might be the answer to your question. I saw Ray's post on the alt codes for Spanish letters, but I don't have a keyboard that has numbers off to the side.
Hope this helps.
Regards!
I can type most of the tildes on my keyboard but not¿ ¡ or ñ or ü. On here the characters are at the end of the answer box. I am using a tablet at the moment so no problem.
However, our Spanish teacher recommended 'Lexibar' which is easy to use and suits my needs. It may not suit a really fast typist. Give it a go. I use it on my laptop.
Hello Ruth,

If you have a smart phone using the Android operating system you can easily add additional languages / other language keyboard options by going into settings and then look for language. Where exactly you would find it would probably vary according to the manufacturer!
For example, in a Samsung Galaxy S7 you would go to Settings -> General Management -> language and input -> language (English) click on this and then click on: add language! It offers a keyboard layout in one of the languages you have chosen and you simply slide the keyboard across with your fingers to enable the others, making it very easy to move between them all! I have not yet seen this same feature available with Windows OS !
I have 4 separate language keyboard layouts enabled with tts (text to speech) which can be downloaded free!
The problem from my experience of using many Windows Operating systems (95, 98, XP, Vista 7 and 10 ) is that Microsoft do not usually offer full language packs unless you pay for the two, top versions eg: Ultimate and Professional, so if you love languages like I do, but cannot afford Microsoft prices, you are truly stuffed! It is also hardly worth the money just for the language packs when you can obtain keyboard layouts and text to speech facilities free with Google /Samsung! I think that Microsoft think that everyone in the western world is made of money! (Very wealthy!)
One work-around is to add a free website to favourites/bookmark! it It is called: type it and offers free keyboard layouts for more than 10 different languages including Spanish
