There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speakers suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

1: Todo viajero debe llevar un chaleco salvavidas.

Each traveler must wear a lifejacket.

2: El perrito llevaba chaleco salvavidas y gafas protectoras.

The little dog wore a lifejacket and goggles.

Soy un mal nadador, así que siempre uso un chaleco salvavidas cuando salgo en un barco.

I'm a poor swimmer, so I always wear a life jacket when I go out in a boat.

jellonz...."glad that he has his life jacket...' sounds better :-)! - Jraider, Jun 26, 2017
"Glad of" is fine in English Jr, but it doesn't match the Spanish, which I changed after Heidita corrected my Spanglish. I should have used a strike-through to show this change. Maybe I'll post a suggestion for others about this. - jellonz, Jun 26, 2017

Un chaleco salvavidas no es tu talla puede igual de peligroso tan no lo ponerse.

A life jacket that is not your size can be just as dangerous as not wearing one.

"Un chaleco salvavidas que no es de tu talla puede ser tan peligroso como no usar uno". Word for word translations don't work 99.99% of the times. You may use it as a start point but a machine translation, although not perfect, will get you a lot closer. - 00fac92a, Jun 26, 2017

Soy capaz de nadar en el océano durante horas sin regresar a la orilla, pero si alguien me dice que tengo que usar un chaleco de salvavidas, lo hago sin discusión, porque siempre es mejor pecar de precavido.

I am capable of swimming in the ocean for hours without returning to shore, but if someone tells me that I have to wear a life vest , I do it without argument, because it is always better to err on the side of caution.

Including you could be injured with the mishap, and unable to swim per your norm, or the water could be cold enough that your muscles don't work right. :) - bosquederoble, Jun 26, 2017

Los gatos no requieren un chaleco salvavidas porque son capaces de nadar naturalmente, pero la mayoría de los gatos odian entrar en el agua.

Cats don't require a life jacket because they are able to swim naturally, but most cats hate getting into the water.

Hay muchas anuncios dirigido a los pescadores de rocas, diciendo que deben llevar un chaleco salvavidas, porque es peligroso estar de pie tan cerca del mar profundo donde hay las grandes olas. Desafortunademente, muchas pescadores lo no hacen caso de este aviso y cada año algiuen ahogan.

There are many notices directed at rock fishermen, saying that they ought to wear a life jacket, because it is dangerous to stand so close to the deep ocean where there are large waves. Unfortunately, many fishermen ignore this advice and every year someone drowns.

Why in a plane trip from Bilbao to Sevilla the flight assistant explains how you must use the life jacket in case of air craft if you will not fly over the sea?. May be in case you are so lucky of falling over a lake?

¿Por qué en un vuelo de Bilbao a Sevilla el asistente de vuelo explica como se debe usar el chaleco salvavidas en caso de accidente aéreo, si no se va a volar sobre el mar?puede ser por si eres tan afortunado de caer en un lago?

Please correct my English

A question. Introduces instead explains would be ok in the upper sentence? .

Corrections.

I have mixed all corrections trying to find a more literall way of saying my Spanish sentence hopping it works . Thanks mates.

"Why, in a flight from Bibao to Seville, does the flight assistant explain how to use the life jacket, in case of an accident if you are not going to fly over the sea? Maybe It's in case you are lucky enough to crash into a lake?

(To crash into a lake it is not acurate to my Spanish sentence but I think it is funny.)

One question: Would introduces instead of explain be ok in the sentence above. Many thanks again mates. Gracias

I wouldn't mind seeing other peoples' takes on a correction either, as I changed it fairly liberally. I could write it with introduces, but explains is easier and more natural. :) - bosquederoble, Jun 26, 2017

No, introduces in this context doesn't work. I would use, "announces" - rac1, Jun 26, 2017
Or, you could use, "offers" too. - rac1, Jun 26, 2017
