Reminder on corrections, correctors and appreciation.
As I hope some of us have noticed, Heidita has started to offer us corrections on some of the threads.
Although her profile is new, she is someone who was at the site in the past, and although I don't know how high her points were before she deleted her profile, we can see it was at least 200k by this thread:

We currently still only have 7 members above 200k. And I am sure she would have been far higher by now had she stayed.
It has been a while since we have received regular corrections on the learning threads, although some members have been kind enough to do them on a sporadic basis, so I thought it a good time to remind everyone of the basic expectations for posting on the threads when someone is kind enough to provide corrections:
1 Go back and check the thread.
2 Make the suggested corrections.
3 Leave a thanks for the corrector.
I think it would also be nice to encourage her participation by voting for her answers in questions threads, you can assume they will be correct from the standpoint of the Spanish of Spain, as there is no mechanism for voting for the corrections given at this site.
Please keep in mind correcting is hard work, and from what I have seen correctors tend to burn out fairly quick, let's keep in mind they do us a service, not vice versa and so let's try to keep it going as long as possible.

Great post Bosque. For me there is no better way to learn than to get something wrong and be corrected. Understanding your mistakes and then correcting them is key, so experienced "correctors" are indeed something that should be cherished

I knew right away who Heidita was even though she was here before my time because I noticed Ray had mentioned her in the past in a loving way.
Thank you for posting this, Bosque. We need to remember to go back and check our posts and make the suggested corrections, especially when the corrector is a native Spanish speaker. That's how we learn.
Heidi has been responsible for so much work here. She helped build this forum into a great place to learn Spanish. Her corrections are spot on. And I want to say thank you for all she has done and will do. She is a wonderful person to boot. lol Seriously though she really is and her hard work has helped so many.
If you don't know her yet. Get to know her, she's great, and I promise you, she is a great teacher of Spanish. She is also bilingual. We are very fortunate to have her here. Thank you Heidi!
I'll echo those sentiments Bosque. Making corrections is such a difficult task. On the few occasions I try it... boy does my brain hurt lol.
I am grateful for all corrections and pointers to make my sentences not only correct but also sound more natural.
Thank you mods for the work you do, and of course the fantastic people - you know who your are! who correct us day in, day out!

Since you were an active member of this forum in the past, I'm glad that you are back at this site. We need more people from across the pond, especially, because users like myself are learning Peninsular Spanish through British English.
Corrections are a lot of work & users who are fluent in Spanish deserves credit. Fixing mistakes & voting is the least we can show courtesy, appreciation & respect for their service.
The users who were active in the past were great. I hope that more past members return & bring their knowledge & expertise here.
I hope to see more inputs & opinions from you in the future.

Actually, I asked our good friend Ken if he had time to help with corrections on daily threads.
I have seen him do so especially on Rac's thread and on Nickel's. he is doing such a good job that I really have nothing else to say
I only wanted to point out that I still check the thread, so if ken says something and you see me posting a smiley " " his corrections were ok.
Please correct your posts and don't forget to thank the corrector, ken and coffee are there every day

We non native Spanish speakers all owe an immense debt to all the Spanish natives who help out here especially Danielle and Heidita who are teachers, too!
Anyone who has ever offered corrections in Spanish or even English on a Spanishdict thread on fairly regular basis will no doubt be aware of this time -consuming labour of love. At best, it can be rewarding to witness the improvements people make in learning either language as they learn from their mistakes, and the committment and enthusiasm the regular contributors continue to show as they persevere in the practice of these skills! It is also always greatly appreciated when they 1.Apply the corrections offered and 2 they remember to thank the corrector. At worst, it can be tiring and discouraging when your efforts to offer corrections are not even acknowledged by the person who you have tried so hard to help and you receive no words of thanks!
As a non-native, ocassional corrector mainly on Picture of the Day threads, I have always been aware of the immense responsibility such a privelege carries: the responsibility of offering accurate answers within the limits of my ability. This is a responsibility first entrusted to me by none other than Heidita herself many years ago ! I have always endeavoured, like Ken and Bosque to do it to the best of my ability, but I sincerely apologise for any occasions in the past where I may have failed to guide any of you correctly! Now, I can confidently pass the batton back to Heidita who is, as a fluent Spanish speaker, much more able to guide you!
I will still continue to actively participate in Picture of the Day and other threads and may still occasionally answer and ask questions in the forum, but as we have many more Spanish native speakers including Polenta, Raff, Ale, Michelle, Luis and Julian we can all learn from them now! 
I am sincerely grateful to anyone who takes the time to read my posts and offer any corrections. These folks are taking their free time, which could be used for a million different things, to help total strangers reach their goal of increasing their Spanish proficiency. What is in it for them....only gratitude.....which we should give freely and sincerely. I do not see the difference if the corrector is from Spain, from Latin or South America or from somewhere else. If they are native speakers or advanced learners and are offering corrections they certainly know more than those of us who are slogging along trying our best to improve. No one can be expected to know all of the regional differences across the total Spanish-speaking world. Everyone who offers corrections is doing the best they can and it is unrealistic for us to expect them to be 100% correct 100% of the time.
So, for my part, correct away!
To make corrections based on Heidita's observations or not?
Question: It's great to have Heidita here to make corrections, but how do I know if I made a mistake with my Spanish (which happens a lot, unfortunately) in which case I need to make corrections or if my Spanish is correct, just not the way it's spoken in Spain (in which case I don't think it calls for corrections)?
I would like to mention that we are very fortunate to have several correctors now.

Lazarus whenever he can, going through some personal issues at the moment.
AleCcowaN, our new member helping out on grammar questions, but also on daily threads with suggestions and corrections.

I believe that this thread is relevant , please correct your posts or post questions about them on the forum, we do not have to agree on everything, sometimes you might think, hey, I have seen this elsewhere just like this...ok, just post on the forum.
And please remember, I am not the only one who corrects.
Coffeelate is a super star and she is one of the kindest people I know, she is a wonderful and very kind corrector.
Polenta is also helping out on corrections, even on daily threads.
