acciones/participaciones

Question

Could anyone tell me if there is difference between acciones and particpaciones. Would they both be owned by accionistas?

Acción and participación in commerce/economy is share. Also, participación is investment in holding & interest.

NKM is correct. I neglected to say in my earlier post that "participación" can be an owner's share in an entity, even though they may not be any stock. A simple partnership would be an example of "participaciones".

They are the same, in my opinion (stock, partial ownership). "Accion" is much more common.
