Would I want to use sentir or parece or something else?

Hi, Bonsai!

Just a little addition to Ken's good response.

Sure, either could work. Your choice depends on your intention.

Don't forget, when you speak you express ideas, but also feelings, emotions, perspectives, purposes...

Some other possible collocations:

  • Esa noche me pareció un sueño hermoso

  • Esa noche fue como un bello sueño

  • Siento que esa noche fue como un hermoso sueño

Anyway, you use "feels", not "felt". That's because you are felling that now. Right?

In such case, the present tense does work,

  • Esa noche me parece un sueño

  • Siento que esa noche es como un sueño

Hope this helps!

I think either could work.

Esa noche me sentí como un sueño hermoso.

That night felt like a beautiful dream (to me)

Esa noche me pareció un sueño hermoso.

That night seemed like a beautiful dream (to me.)

I used the past tense, because as a stand-alone sentence, I can't really see how the present tense would work.

Of course, with a slightly more complicated sentence, the present tense could work as in:

Thinking about it now, that night seems like a beautiful dream. (I guess "thinking about it now" could be implied, rather than stated outright, if you use the present tense)

If you need present tense, I'm sure you can find the proper verb in our verb conjugator if you don't already know it.
