Yes! This happened to me last month. I could get into the dictionary and the conjugation tables, but could not get into the Forum or my Reputation. I wrote the site administrators, but it was on the weekend so they couldn't get back to me right away. The first thing that I crashed was my laptop (Windows). Then I switched to my iPad. Got a Bad Gateway on that one, too. So, being the genius that I am I tried my PC (Windows) and the same thing happened. I was frantic. Luckily, I got ahold of Gekkosan and he suggested that I clear my cache. I did, and I was back up and running.

The next day I heard from the site folks and they told me to get ahold of them if it happened again. Now that it has happened to a bunch of us I am sure that it has them concerned. Whatever is happening is nothing that we users can do anything about. It has to be resolved on the SD end.

Ray, do they think that this has anything to do with whoever is doing all of the spam posts? Whatever it is, it is really, really scary, as I am a virtual technological moron and was afraid that I messed up something permanently in my computers.

Thank you for that Echo, that is exactly what happened to me , this is one reason why we ask members N O T T O O P E N the spammers posts , because it seams to coincide with them but I could be completely wrong , I also got rid os cookies to no avail , - ray76, Aug 12, 2017
By following Rac's advice I have been able to get both my Safari and Chrome able to get into SD again. With Safari you have to do a total "reset. There's a button for it in the upper right hand corner. - Daniela2041, Aug 12, 2017
Because it is only S D that is affected I could get any other webb. site then it has to be a problem internally with S D and they have so far been unable to eradicate these latest spammers. - ray76, Aug 12, 2017
Yes, Ray, it was only S D. Everything else worked fine. - Echoline, Aug 12, 2017
I had same experience as you, Echoline, and I too panicked because I am a technological moron too. In fact, I find all this technological stuff to be intimidating and confusing. :) - Sassette, Aug 12, 2017
If you can flag a thread or close it, Ray, you have to open it to do so. If you can open it, why not delete it? - rac1, Aug 13, 2017

I am having "Bad Gateway" problem with SD on Chrome, so I switched to Safari and am doing a little better. Microsoft Edge blows a gasket when I am on SD for more than five minutes. Same for Firefox.

Several years ago, I fixed the problem by thoroughly cleaning out the cache on Chrome. The fix lasted for about a year and a half, then it came back. So I tried it again-resulta--nada. I wonder if the admins have any idea of what's happening.

Oy vey!

Yes they do Danni I shall PM you later today - ray76, Jun 1, 2017
Yes, I have been in contact with them today. - rac1, Jun 1, 2017
You may want to go to your Chrome settings, scroll down to advanced settings and scroll down to "Reset Settings"...That has worked for me with Chrome. - rac1, Jun 1, 2017
I have Adblock and rarely have problems with SD. I think it could also have something to do with all their advertising. - rac1, Jun 1, 2017
Oye, Amber!! I did what you said and reset my settings. It Worked!! Yupí! - Daniela2041, Jun 1, 2017
I know Chrome has acted that way for me too. I hope it lasts. It should. :) - rac1, Jun 1, 2017

It may help to contact your internet provider. Or, maybe even Safari. - rac1, May 31, 2017

Ray, have you tried:

1.deleting stored cache /history?

2.Uninstalling and reinstalling your Safari Browzer?

3.Have you tried accessing the browser from a different computer or using a tablet or mobile/Smartphone instead to see if the same problem persists?!

4.Have you made sure that you actually have a current Internet connection and that your router is still connecting you to the internet? Browser connections can "time out" leaving you disconnected!

It could be that their Server is down or that they are doing maintenance work on their server.

Other things to try:

1.Switch off your router and wait for 10 second before restarting it!

2.Restart your computer on which you were experiencing your difficulty

You could be viewing a stored/ offline version of page so you could try deleting Spanishdict from Favourites/Bookmarks and try accessing it again!

¿"Deleyed"? Do you mean "deleted", "delayed", or made outlaws of them? :) - DonBigoteDeLaLancha, May 31, 2017

Ray, can you access any sites at all using Safari ? Is it just Spanishdict that you are experiencing difficulty with or all sites?

Ray, I would strongly suggest /recommend that you do a Scan on your computer with your Antivirus wink

Yes Ray, but no system is invincible - even Apple - so having Antivirus software an running regular scans is still recommended :) - FELIZ77, Jun 1, 2017

I had the same problem about a month ago. I think (I don't remember) I fixed it by removing SD from my "tabs". Then I reentered the site manually and added it back to my tabs. No problems since then. I use both Chrome and Edge.

Are you referring to this message when you are trying to post an answer or comment, "There was an error posting your answer."? If the answer is yes, I'm having problems posting answers & comments. - NKM1974, Aug 12, 2017
That is another manifestation mate , but then S D closes altogether with that message 502 badgateway, and it is almost impossible to get rid of it . - ray76, Aug 12, 2017
I remain concerned about spammers, whether these computer problems are related to spam or not. Spammers don't affect my use of SD but I hope moderators are not having to spend a lot of time deleting those messages. I won't be opening any of them! - Sassette, Aug 12, 2017
Unfortunately we do have to Sassette , and thanks for the commiserations.. - ray76, Aug 12, 2017
I have been the one actually deleting them Sassy. - rac1, Aug 12, 2017

I now find that I have to log into S D every time I open up , most annoying .

Any tips on this guys?

This is still causing trouble to many of us , it is only happening when we open

Spanishdict on different search engines it must be a problem within the site.

Yes it is Amber , I am at a loss , I will go to "feedback" . - ray76, Jun 1, 2017
Hi Feliz , I have never had it before but now every time I go in and out I have to log in , Why ? - ray76, Jun 1, 2017
This is crazy , if I use my Ipad it is OK or O K on firefox but on safari I have to log in again every time I open up , I am tearing my hair out guys. - ray76, Jun 2, 2017
Same thing here. For about a week now I've noticed that I have to log in every time. It's irritating. - DonBigoteDeLaLancha, Jun 3, 2017
Since this week, when I lock my computer, I get a log in or sign up when I refresh my browser. Also, if I have been inactive for 2 or more hours. That's never happened to me before. - NKM1974, Jun 3, 2017
We mods are working for about 12 hours each on and off , imagine how many times I have to now log in it is driving me bonkers it has never happened in all the years I have been here , make a post of it mate please . - ray76, Jun 3, 2017

So that you all know, I clean my cache once a week (Edge and Chrome) and do a complete (full scan once a month. It takes several hours so I do it while sleeping. Intermediate scans are done automatically by my antivirus software at various intervals. I rarely have problems. I figure it's like getting an oil change.

And yes, Ray, we are a weird bunch indeed. So were Da Vinci, Einstein, et. al.

I use Chrome and Edge as well. I'm having no problems on SD since I contacted my internet provider. It will work for awhile and I'll start noticing small things. The internet provider always finds out it is a problem with their signal. - rac1, Jun 1, 2017
I use safari on Imac, but it is only S D so it is their problem I am sure. - ray76, Aug 13, 2017

I have had the 502 Bad Gateway problem while using Iinternet Explorer while dealing with the spammers - I had to change to Firefox.

And I have to sign in the SD every time. Never had to do that before.
