Yes! This happened to me last month. I could get into the dictionary and the conjugation tables, but could not get into the Forum or my Reputation. I wrote the site administrators, but it was on the weekend so they couldn't get back to me right away. The first thing that I crashed was my laptop (Windows). Then I switched to my iPad. Got a Bad Gateway on that one, too. So, being the genius that I am I tried my PC (Windows) and the same thing happened. I was frantic. Luckily, I got ahold of Gekkosan and he suggested that I clear my cache. I did, and I was back up and running.
The next day I heard from the site folks and they told me to get ahold of them if it happened again. Now that it has happened to a bunch of us I am sure that it has them concerned. Whatever is happening is nothing that we users can do anything about. It has to be resolved on the SD end.
Ray, do they think that this has anything to do with whoever is doing all of the spam posts? Whatever it is, it is really, really scary, as I am a virtual technological moron and was afraid that I messed up something permanently in my computers.
I am having "Bad Gateway" problem with SD on Chrome, so I switched to Safari and am doing a little better. Microsoft Edge blows a gasket when I am on SD for more than five minutes. Same for Firefox.
Several years ago, I fixed the problem by thoroughly cleaning out the cache on Chrome. The fix lasted for about a year and a half, then it came back. So I tried it again-resulta--nada. I wonder if the admins have any idea of what's happening.
Oy vey!
I am in trouble here guys can someone help me , I have tried everything I know.
Ray, have you tried:
1.deleting stored cache /history?
2.Uninstalling and reinstalling your Safari Browzer?
3.Have you tried accessing the browser from a different computer or using a tablet or mobile/Smartphone instead to see if the same problem persists?!
4.Have you made sure that you actually have a current Internet connection and that your router is still connecting you to the internet? Browser connections can "time out" leaving you disconnected!
It could be that their Server is down or that they are doing maintenance work on their server.
Other things to try:
1.Switch off your router and wait for 10 second before restarting it!
2.Restart your computer on which you were experiencing your difficulty
You could be viewing a stored/ offline version of page so you could try deleting Spanishdict from Favourites/Bookmarks and try accessing it again!
Ray, can you access any sites at all using Safari ? Is it just Spanishdict that you are experiencing difficulty with or all sites?
Ray, I would strongly suggest /recommend that you do a Scan on your computer with your Antivirus ![]()
I had the same problem about a month ago. I think (I don't remember) I fixed it by removing SD from my "tabs". Then I reentered the site manually and added it back to my tabs. No problems since then. I use both Chrome and Edge.
After the S D engineers helped me fix this problem I now find that a few more
members are experiencing this again, please contact S D via feedback
I now find that I have to log into S D every time I open up , most annoying .
Any tips on this guys?
This is still causing trouble to many of us , it is only happening when we open
Spanishdict on different search engines it must be a problem within the site.
So that you all know, I clean my cache once a week (Edge and Chrome) and do a complete (full scan once a month. It takes several hours so I do it while sleeping. Intermediate scans are done automatically by my antivirus software at various intervals. I rarely have problems. I figure it's like getting an oil change.
And yes, Ray, we are a weird bunch indeed. So were Da Vinci, Einstein, et. al.
Thanks to all of you that offered invaluable help. I have resolved the problem by clearing my computer of all cookies etc and then restarted it , so all is well with the world of "spanishdictaholics" ;Aren't we a weird bunch ?
I have no issues with Firefox and Google Chrome. I only get "Bad Gateway" when my internet or router is either disconnected or offline.
Ray, I use Safari on a Mac and am having no problems. Don't know if knowing that is any help.
I have had the 502 Bad Gateway problem while using Iinternet Explorer while dealing with the spammers - I had to change to Firefox.
And I have to sign in the SD every time. Never had to do that before.
