What does "¿Tu qué? mean in this context_

I am watching a Spaniard move called ¨Spy Time¨and these three sentences came about:

¿Tu qué? ¿Te vas a la India a salvar el mundo? ¿Como Ghandi?

From my literal translation it mean ¨¨For What¨...but something tells me it means something different in this context?

If you can help me out that would be much appreciated! =)

It means "what about you?" Are you going away to India to save the world. Like Ghandi?

It can also be used differently beginning with "Y' Y tú, qué ¿vas a hacer mañana? "And you, what are you going to do tomorrow?"

Here's a Charlie Brown cartoon illustrating my last point.

Lacking more context, I have 2 options:

You what?

And Daniela’s.
