Greetings and respect

When greeting someone, "Cómo está usted", lessons say use the "usted" form to show respect. How does that compare to using "Señor" or "señora"? Thanks. I now see the answer, but can't delete post.

No need to delete it. Someone can learn from it. :) - rac1, May 29, 2017

"Usted" is the formal "you" "Señor, señora, señorita" are titles like Mr. Mrs. Miss.

Señor also is used to say "sir." You could conceivably say: "¿Cómo está usted, señor?" enter image description here

Root:

If you post a question and discover the answer to your question before someone answers you can simply edit the body of the question to indicate this and/or write the answer to your question by editing the original question. If you're not sure of your explanation, you can ask someone to confirm or correct your thinking.

Or you can replace the body of the question with "delete" and edit the title of the question changing it to "Moderator - please delete."

If you ask the question and someone does answer it before you do the above you can just leave it, vote for the answer and accept the answer as best answer. Someone else may learn from your post even though you already figured out the answer.

In most cases, if you follow the rules, and research before asking a question, you will find the answer without asking the question and avoid all of the above.

If someone has answered, don't erase the question and type "delete", though. :) - rac1, May 29, 2017
