Bien, buen, buena or bueno
These 4 words all seem to have the same meaning - when is it best to use verses one of the other 3??

Hi el jefe!
"Bien" is an adverb. It modifies verbs (1), adjectives (2a) and other adverbs (3a).
1- Estoy muy bien - I am very well.
1- He comido bien - I have eaten well.
2- Estoy bien satisfecho - I am very satisfied
2- Ella parece bien decepcionada - She looks very disappointed
3- Regresaré bien tarde - I will be back very late
3- Todavía es bien temprano - It's still quite early
"Buena" (feminine -1), "bueno" (masculine -2) and "buen" (shortened form -2) are adjectives. They modify nouns.
1- Que tengas una buena tarde - I hope you have a good afternoon
1- Esa tableta es buena - That tablet is good
2- Aquel fue un buen año - That was a good year (The shortened form is always masculine and always occur before the noun it modifies).
Aquel fue un bueno año is incorrect.
2- Ese carro es bueno - That car is good
Other cases:
Bien is also used as an adjective in colloquial (informal) situations, mainly in Spain.
Ella es una chica bien (singular) - She is a high-class girl
Esas son familias bien (plural) - That's a high class family
Bueno and buena is also recovered from an illness, mainly in Spain.
Estaba enfermo pero ya estoy bueno ya - I was sick, but I am recovered now.
Ella estuvo ingresada pero ya está buena - She was in the hospital but she is OK now.
Above are the main cases, but not all of them.
I hope it helps.
"Bien", "buen", "buena", and "bueno" are all related to something being "good", but in different ways.
"Bien" is an adverb and is used to show that something (a verb) was done "well".
"Buen" is a shortening of "bueno", the masculine adjective for "good". It is used when "bueno" would be used before a noun.
"Buena" is the feminine form of both "buen" and "bueno", and is used when either would refer to a feminine noun.
"Bueno" is a masculine adjective for "good", used after the noun. In special circumstances, "bueno" would be used before the noun, and would be replaced with "buen".
