how do you say, 'do you think you're cool?' in spanish. Is it 'piensas tu que eres chulo' or is that grammatically incorrect?

Welcome to SpanishDict. Proper capitalization and punctuation is mandatory on SD. Please "edit" and make the changes. Your sentence needs to start with a capital and "Spanish" is capitalized. - rac1, May 27, 2017

It's said a little differently than in English. ¿Te crees genial? in some areas they use "copado." "Chulo is used as well.

The following is from the SD vocabulary'

a. cool ¡Y luego me enseñó su nuevo celular tan chulo! And then he showed me his cool new phone!

b. neat Vimos un carro bien chulo en Acapulco. We saw a really neat car in Acapulco.

  1. (good-looking) (Latin America) a. cute ¿Viste la novia chula de Ethan?Did you see Ethan's cute girlfriend?

  2. (arrogant) (Spain)

a. conceited: Aunque es abogado, no tiene que hablarme de manera tan chula. Even though he's a lawyer, he doesn't have to talk to me in such a conceited way.

b. cocky No te pongas chulo conmigo; te conozco desde que eras un bebé.Don't get cocky with me; I've known you since you were a little baby.

Note Chulo also has the slangy meaning of "pimp."

I just came across this sentence on Katy Perry Argentina facebook page:

DARK HORSE que chida canción y que bonita Katy Perry.

I looked up chida in the SD dictionary and it says that it means cool, awesome, fantasitic.

Not sure this adds anything to the thread, but I just wanted to point it out. smile

Chido and chida are very common in Mexico. I don't hear is much in California. Thanks for reminding me. - Daniela2041, May 28, 2017
