Are "lo ocurrido and "lo que pasó" interchangeable?

If you use it to tell a thing that happend, both options work. But ¨lo ocurrido¨ tends to be more formal, and "lo que pasó" can be used in a conversation with friends.

The Spanish verbs "ocurrir", "suceder" and "pasar" are interchangeable. Also "acontecer". The latter is less frequent and somehow archaic in this context.

How often Spanish speakers use one or the other is a matter of which country or region we refer to.

1- ¿Qué ocurrió? ¿Qué pasó? ¿Qué sucedió?

2- Dime lo que pasó. Dime lo que ocurrió. Dime lo que sucedió. Cuéntame qué ha sucedido / ocurrido / pasado.

Both are sets of interchangeable expressions.

By the way, I remember a very interesting expression my mother sometimes uses:

"Siempre que ocurre lo mismo, sucede igual". It's a colorful way to indicate that a known event (being the cause) brings about a predectible outcome (being the consequence), and also let know that "ocurrir" and "suceder" are direct equivalent terms.
