I am not a native speaker, but I would try (substitue encarcelada if female):

Me sentí encarcelado mientras trabajaba allí.

You misformed the preterite for sentir, I would choose sentirse due to the association with an adjective.

Encarcelar is an infinitive, you are using a past participle as an adjective.

Whilst working = while I was working- Imperfect- it does not work with the gerundio in Spanish
