See this definition:

PRONOMINAL VERB

Llevarse

1 (tomar consigo) to take

se llevó todo mi dinero he took all my money;

x

El vehículo es una pieza fundamental para la investigación y la persona que se lo llevó podría enfrentar cargos graves

Does this work in the broader context?

El vehículo es una pieza fundamental para la investigación- the vehicle is a fundamental part of the investigation

y la persona que- and the person that

se lo llevó -took it (the vehicle) (for themselves)

podría enfrentar cargos graves- could face serious charges.

the subject and pronominal object of llevar is the person (who took it, for themselves- ie could be who stole it). Se= la persona. llevó is conjugated to la persona

lo= the vehicle is the direct object. Lo= el vehículo

My interpretation is that this is truly se, pronominal, not a replacement for le, so is a pronominal object not an indirect object.

Ok I see what your saying se is not a replacement of le. - berry82, May 16, 2017
Yes, it's a pronominal (reflexive) usage. :) - bosquederoble, May 16, 2017
