Comments vs. Posting a question.

What shall one do? If a user answers a question posted here and the poster of the original question has further questions regarding the same subject, should he (the poster) ask another question or should he make a comment on the original question?

He should make a comment, if it's about the same question. Otherwise, he should open another thread. - rac1, May 15, 2017

If it is a question that relates to your original question, than I think it is perfectly fine to ask in the comment section. If it does not relate to it you may want to ask another question. Just to stay on topic .

I think it is always safe to ask a new question, and would be preferable if the new question is not directly related to the original question.

On the other hand, if it is something quick, and highly related to the original question, it can be handled by up and back comments in the original question or the answers to the question.

I've also had members ask a follow-up question as a comment, and I commented back to them to read a section that I added in my original answer in order to address their comment/question.

The key thing, is that questions and answers should not stray too much from the original question. If things start to stray it is time for a new question.

I think it would make most sense to ask another question. Or try to combine some of the questions into the same post.
