Inconsistent answers on the lesson pages.

Question

Please forgive me for breaking the rules. But, Is there a place, on your site, for newbies to go and discuss what we want to learn and perhaps find ways to help you help us? I don't want to point fingers, so I need a place, on this site, which I love the most, so I can hack, hack, hack away until I am pretty sure I have the right answers.

Your paragraph was not clearly related to the title of your post (Inconsistent answers on the lesson pages.) Maybe you can be a little more specific?

NKM's advice is very good, read the lessons. Most contain 40 question tests which require a 95% success rate to get a "go on to the next lesson" prompt. But you can ignore this if you want and take the lessons in any order you want, with or without passing the tests.

The other resource that I highly recommend is the Learn Spanish link in the main menu. The option with the pretty lady (Paralee) which is called SpanishDict Video course is free and links to a fashcard set for each lesson. That's the way I did my initial Spanish learning.

Reading your post again, and perhaps reading a little "between the lines" it seems you are looking for a place "for beginners only." Perhaps, this is because advice from native speakers or advanced learners "goes over your head" too quickly. If this is what you mean to say I can sympathize and offer a couple of possible options.

1. There would be nothing wrong, in my opinion, to post a question such as "Can another newbie / beginner help me" and then post your question and develop a thread with other beginners.

2. Follow-through with my previous suggestion of the SpanishDict Video course and flashcard sets. There is enough good material there, that will take 200+ hours of study. If you faithfully complete this course you won't be a newbie any longer.

3. Use the articles in the Language Guide as a reference or supplement to the video lessons. Once you have taken a specific video lesson you will be able to detect, from the titles of the Language Guide articles, which ones will be related to what you have just studied.

4. Keep in mind that the Video Course and Language Guide articles are there for the re-taking and re-reading any time you want. Sometimes pressing on with the next lesson even though you might not totally understand the earlier lessons will help you to learn the previous lessons! They build on each other. When you're finished with the course, take some of the lessons again if you didn't understand them completely the first time. I have read and taken the 40 question tests of some of the Language Guide articles five or more times, particularly regarding the subjunctive mood.

5. SD does not have a monopoly on learning materials on the internet. But we do have some posts here which point to many other sites. Several others are free (or free up to a certain level) or are reasonably priced.
