En México no he oido la palabra saltamontes. Usamos la palabra chapulín.
In Mexico I haven't heard the word saltamontes. We use the word chapulín.

When the grasshopper was young, he always used to say " I am a (mountain jumper), some day I am going to jump that mountain" , but when the day arrived, he tried to jump it and only got part way up, and ended up bouncing on the side like a rubber ball. When he returned to the base of the hill, he simply said " okay, I suppose I am a (rubber bouncer)".
