Need help with proof reading my written spanish summary

Question

I am not the best with using the right conjunctions... please help me proof read my summary for any spelling errors or wrong conjunctions! Thank you..

(Celia Cruz nació en la Habana, Cuba el 21 de octubre de 1925. Ella primero ganó reconocimiento en la década de 1950, como cantante con la orquesta Sonora Matancera. Trasladarse a los Estados Unidos después de la subida de Fidel Castro, Cruz había grabado 23 discos de oro con Tito Puente, Fania All-Stars y otros colaboradores. El cantante cubano americano era conocido como "La reina de la Salsa" y fue uno de los más populares intérpretes de salsa de todos los tiempos. Welcome to SpanishDict. "Wrong conjugations"... not conjunctions. Those two word don't even mean the same thing. This looks like something copied out of a text book. "Spanish" is capitalized. - rac1, Apr 27, 2017

(1) Keep in mind that in Spanish the titles (i.e. La sonora matancera) should be written as you can see in the text, only the first word should be capitalized.

(2) Other choices are "Se trasladó, se mudó, se fue, se vino, cambió su residencia a los Estados Unidos".

(3) Other choices are "Fidel Castro llegó/subió/alcanzó el poder".

(4) Here you should use the simple past tense.

(5) Feminine

(6) You, except for a few cases, need an article before a noun.

"Uno de los tipos" means "One of the types". In this context, it would probably mean "One of a kind". - NKM1974, Apr 27, 2017

Raff'a text seems good but I would use "asunción" instead of "subida". I would also say " la cantante cubano-americana (cubano with o and then a hypen). Again I would say una de las intérpretes (una and not un)

Thanks, polenta1 for your comment. No, in fact "asunción" is a term in Spanish reserved for using it exclusively the you talk about the virgin Mary, following the catholic theology about it. You will never find in other contexts. Do not use it. - Raff75, Apr 27, 2017
