I'm attempting to do genealogy, and came across a name with two dots over the last 'e'. Is this right? Should I correct it? The name is Castilië En Leon. I think that a chunk of the name is wrong.

It is right in Dutch, but certainly not in Spanish. In Spanish the right way is "Castilla y León". It's one of the 17 autonomous comunities in Spain nowadays, comprising 9 provinces: Avila, Salamanca, Zamora, León, Burgos, Palencia, Valladolid, Soria and Segovia.

Thank you. I suppose the same could be said about Spanje vs España? Is Beatrix Prinses de Castilla y León accurate, or are there still problems? Is it ok if the names leave off the León? or should it have the whole name? (You wouldn't believe some of the variations of names I have found.)
