When do I use iba or fui?
I have to write: "I went to school in Grim (a place) for the first time." or "I went to a new school." Which do I use?

Yo fui a la escuela en Grim por primera vez.
Unless you want to point out that you used to go there. Then it would be iba.
Don't you like:
La primera vez que fui a la escuela fue en Grim.
