No tenia tiempo

No tenia tiempo

Hello

Could you tell me if I've used the proper tenses in this sentence?

No tenía tiempo para ver el museo cuando estaba en Londres.

I chose exactly those, because my teacher told me we should use the imperfect when we describe a situation. There is no further context here, it's just a single question.

Thanks

Personally, if you took a trip to London, and didn't have time when you were there, and are saying that to someone now that you are back, I would have used preterit throughout- but I am interested in seeing a native speaker opinion. :) - bosquederoble, Apr 20, 2017

If you used to be in London and are speaking about something habitual it is correct. The meaning is that when you lived or used to stay in London you were too busy to go to the museum .

If you are speaking about a trip that you did some time ago then it must be. No tuve tiempo de ver el museo cuando estuve en Londres.

Muchas gracias, Daniele :) Primero, había escrito la palabra 'de', pero la había cambiado porque pensaba que estuvo equivocado. - FELIZ77, Apr 21, 2017
