Many years ago a fungus destroyed the type of banana that was the most common export type and that was tastier than the variety used today. Now the fungus has mutated to be able to kill some eighty-five percent of the world’s types. The Chiquita Company is trying to find a variety that would not be susceptible but still be appropriate for export, so that the little girls of the world will be able to continue having one in their lunchboxes when they go to school.

Is the word chiquita/o only used in Middle and South America, and not in Spain?
