aguileño ( ah-gee-LEH-nyoh )

(adjective) aquiline, eagle-like

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speakers suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Pinocchio no tenía la nariz aguileña, pero sí que era bastante larga.

Pinocchio didn't have an aquiline nose, but it really was rather long.

Una nariz aquileña no es una desventaja para un hombre, pero es una para una mujer?(Pienso que ella es hermosa aunque la nariz es bastante grande.)

An aquiline nose is no handicap for a man, but is it one for a woman?(I think she's beautiful even though her nose is rather large.)

Mientras un águila daba vueltas en el aire arriba, el joven cazador con una pluma aguileña en su cabello inspiró profundamente el aire fresco por su nariz aguileña y siguió persiguiendo su presa a través del campo de aguileñas.

While an eagle was circled in the air up above, the young hunter with an eagle feather in his hair inhaled the fresh air deeply through his aquiline nose and continued pursuing his prey across the field of columbines.

Oh, I think I see what you're saying. With the stock photo lettering that would've been difficult. - Sassette, Apr 11, 2017
Yeah, but you could have found an image usable that could be combined, I don't think the combo I wanted is out there already as a whole. :) - bosquederoble, Apr 11, 2017
So his nose got in the way...lol Lovely pics. :) - rac1, Apr 11, 2017
No, his nose led him along the way...well I can't really say that, humans are visual trackers, not ones that track by smell. :) - bosquederoble, Apr 11, 2017
I don't think you wanted to use "was" before "circled" amigo :-)! - Jraider, Apr 11, 2017

Sorry, just read the instructions more carefully. I hope it isn't in violation of the political statement. If it is, mods, you guys can take it out. - CarterTF, Apr 11, 2017
I think you're fine on this. It just requires advice to improve your sentences. The photo is very appropriate for the word of the day, in my opinion, whatever you meant. :) - Sassette, Apr 11, 2017
You got my vote :) I hope to see if others will try to help with your sentences. - Sassette, Apr 11, 2017
As everyone knows by now, I would prefer to have no political comments at all. I would make an exception for pure statements of fact, but this one is not. - mstivers, Apr 11, 2017
These are all definitely maybes: "Conduce" instead of "esta delantera"? Personal "a" before "un nacion"? "Los Estados Unidos" instead of "America"? "Se" instead of "a" before "vuelta"? Definitely definite "gustan" instead of "gusta." - jellonz, Apr 11, 2017
We will let it slide. Just remember in the future, ok? I think this one is more comical, but just remember for next time. :) - rac1, Apr 11, 2017
Yeah, I thought it was funny that he pounded his fist on the table to scare the eagle away... - CarterTF, Apr 11, 2017
That's a funny pic :-)! - Jraider, Apr 11, 2017
@mstivers and @rac1 I feel the way jraider does. It's nothing personal but this entry is not great; I don't even know what it means, but the photo is funny so I felt good about voting for it.. - Sassette, Apr 11, 2017
If you look at Carter's comment it sounds like that he did the project because the photo was funny not to make a political statement. I don't see how that violates any rule on SD. - Sassette, Apr 11, 2017
Gracias, MStivers. - jrschenk, Apr 11, 2017
Yes, Sassette, you are exactly correct, that was my intention, but I promise there won't be anymore from me that are like that - CarterTF, Apr 11, 2017

Ella era rubia, de estatura más bien baja, complexión media, cara ovalada, frente amplia, cejas delgadas, ojos marrón, labios delgados, nariz aguileña y tenía un lunar en la mejilla, junto a la boca.

She was blonde, of rather low stature, average complexion, oval face, broad forehead, thin eyebrows, brown eyes, thin lips, aquiline nose and she had a mole on the cheek, next to the mouth.
