I like to watch soap operas on the telly. (British word for TV) smile

Me gusta ver las telenovelas en la televisión.

New word: SMART or SMARTS

enter image description here

Among the first major sponsors of these serials were soap manufacturers Procter & Gamble, Colgate-Palmolive, and Lever Brothers. Eventually, due to the fact that so many of the sponsors were soap manufacturers, the media started calling these shows “soap operas”.

Ella es una mamá que lleva pistola, y ese niñito suyo es un matón también. ("Matón" no parece ser la palabra correcta, pero no puedo encontrar un mejor.)

She's a pistol-packin' mama, and that little boy of hers is a pistol too. ("Pistol" in its second use here means the child is precocious, and full of energy and chutzpah, perhaps to a degree that could cause a bit of consternation.)

Next word: bully

Per Ian's request, here is a photo of some bleachers. Fans sit on these during American football games, track meets, soccer games, etc. Bleachers are often found in indoor stadiums as well for basketball, volleyball, etc. Indoors they are often made of wood or plastic. When used indoors they can usually be folded up against the wall to make more room on the floor for gym classes.

Please ignore this post as part of the game. The next word continues to be COIN

Former US President John F. Kennedy was very good at coining a phrase. For example, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.

El ex-presidente del EEUU, John F. Kennedy, fue muy bueno al acuñar un dicho. Por ejemplo, "No pregunten lo que su país puede hacer por ustedes, mas bien, se pregunten lo que ustedes pueden hacer por su país.

She is a game old bird.

Ella es un pájaro del juego viejo.

English word , many meanings ,( 1 ) game of chance or sport.

( 2 To be up for anything. ( 3 ) Wild Fowl.

enter image description here

She is 78 and still famous for her beauty. Does she worry about the ravages of time? "I used to. When I was young, I thought anyone over 29 should be in a shroud, but as you get older and the wrinkles arrive, oddly, I find you don't mind so much. The eyesight dims a little, which helps. Twenty years from now, I'll be a game old bird down at the bowling green doing my best to look wonderful for my age."
