How to fix pictures not working.

If you add a picture in the Q&A section and it doesn't show up chances are there is a space in the image address. For some reason SD doesn't like spaces, nor does it seem to recognise the space holder character %. The easiest workaround is to enter an image address with no spaces or space holders. You can do this by finding such an alternative image address online, by creating a replica image with a space free address, or by creating a space free address for the original picture.

Find an Alternative Image Address Online

I use chrome, so there is an easy option for finding image replicas. Right click on the offending image and select "Search google for image." If it is a fairly widely used image google will offer numerous results. Find one of a suitable resolution with a space free image address, replace the dud link with this, and you're away laughing. Other browsers probably have similar functions, but if not you can try the same process on TinEye, which is a dedicated image matching site.

Create your Own Image Address

If the above fails, or you just want to use the image you have and can't be bothered searching for an alternative, then you can create your own image address on a site such as Imgur. Just upload your original image, the one with the spacy address, then Imgur will create a new space free image address. Copy and paste that in and you're done.

Create a Space Free Address for the Original Picture

Perhaps the simplest method is to create a space free address for the original pic. You can do this by going to TinyURL. Enter the original address (replacing any actual spaces with the % sign) and, hey presto, TinyURL will present you with a shortened space free address that can be copied and pasted in. Too easy.

I use tinyurl to rename them, it handles the percentage, if you have a true space, just switch it to a percentage sign. You just feed in the current site, and it relabels it with a simple name that works. :) - bosquederoble, Apr 4, 2017
I like your avatar. :) - Sassette, Apr 4, 2017
Excellent. I didn't think of creating an alternative address itself. That's probably the easiest fix Bosque. I'll edit it in. - jellonz, Apr 4, 2017
Oh, thanks Sassette. Been a long time without one, and I thought since I was on the pic theme I'd better get around to doing it :) - jellonz, Apr 4, 2017
Thanks to Bosque for the tips, and Ken for the TinEye site. If anyone would like to edit in a Spanish version of the above please do. Also if there are any other tips or methods I've missed please let me know. - jellonz, Apr 4, 2017
Great post jellonz. And you're welcome. No es como si tú y yo fueran enemigos:) - DilKen, Apr 5, 2017
I have started sending the image to facebook , it is easy to get the url then straight back to SD , and you can delete the image from facebook , no probs . - ray76, Apr 5, 2017
Very good information. Thanks for posting. :) - rac1, Apr 5, 2017
No worries Amber :) - jellonz, Apr 5, 2017
Thanks Ray for another workaround. I'll leave the post as is because I think Bosque's solution is the easiest and I've probably confused things enough including the other two :) Yours is another good alternative though. Cheers. - jellonz, Apr 5, 2017
Good answer! - k_nelson, May 4, 2017

Now all you need to explain is how to send the image to Facebook. Send me a PM, please. - Daniela2041, May 20, 2017

Sorry: I didn't mean to edit your post. Just wanted to see what image you were referring to because it wasn't showing up. The image is from Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - DilKen, May 20, 2017
OK, thanks, Ken. Still can't get the images to show up. Have tried Photobucket and Tinyurl.com. Could you please delete these two attempts? - ntonces, May 20, 2017
No joy here either Entonces. I can get a viable address in Tinyurl by replacing the spaces with % but SD isn't posting the image :( - jellonz, May 20, 2017
Got it now. The actual image address was different to the one you posted. If you copy that into tinyurl with the spaces replaced with % you will get a result :) - jellonz, May 20, 2017
