Llevar + gerund VS Haber + estado + gerund

Question

Hi, I was just wondering if there is any difference with regards to using these forms.

e.g. Llevo estudiando español desde hace dos meses. or He estado estudiando español desde hace dos meses.

I have been waiting here for twenty minutes. Hace veinte minutos que espero (estoy esperando) aquí. (Notice the present participle in English.)

I have lived in California for 24 years. Hace 24 años que vivo en California.

You can also insert "desde" before "hace" Vivo en California desde hace 24 años.

Llevo 24 años viviendo en California. (same as above).

But you NEVER, NEVER combine them as you did in your example sentence.

Llevo estudiando español desde hace dos meses.

This is better stated as: Llevo dos meses estudiando español. or Hace dos meses que estudio español. OR Estudio español desde hace dos meses.
