IR + regalarle

IR + regalarle

¡Hola!

But it seems to me that any of the forms of "ir" is appropriate. I understand the first part of the question to mean "Are/Is (somebody) giving him a book?" For example, it could be "Are you (singular) giving him a book?", "Are you (plural) giving him a book?" or "Is he/she giving him a book?" Is my understanding correct?

  2. I don't understand why the question ends with "un libro los dos". Doesn't that mean "a book the two"?

¡Gracias!

Think of "los dos" as the two people who are giving the book to "him/her" (le).

It sounds a bit awkward, but it is correct.

"Are you two going to give him the book?"

"los dos" in this case means "both of you".

So the answer would be:

Both of you are going to give him/her a book?

So would it be incorrect that "los dos" refer to two other people (3rd person plural), ie "are the two of them going to give him a book?" "¿Van a regalarle un libro los dos?" - ErikainAndalusia, Mar 28, 2017
¡Muchas gracias! According to my prof, vamos is acceptable as well, is even the default answer. - MGAO, Mar 30, 2017
