Hello Trulstei,

Welcome to our Spanishdict community forum smile

You asked:

What verb is "love" in Spanish? I love, she loves etc. I couldn't find it online. Going to say "I love movies"

Spanish natives use different verbs according to the context, so in the context of your example they use the verb encantar

I love films = (A mí) Me encantan las películas

or better expressed: I love to watch movies (films) = Me encantan ver las películas.

I really like (very much like) to watch films = Me gustan mucho ver las películas.

(Literally: The movies (films) are pleasing to me!)

However, when talking about loving friends and family or pets they use the verb: querer = to want, to wish, and to love.

Te quiero = I love you (as a friend, not romantically!) They also use the verb amar when talking about a more intimate, love relationship between husband and wife or two people in a long-term, committed relationship, poetry or love expressed towards God.

I hope this helps smile

A typo Feliz? Me **encanta** ver las películas - Me **gusta** ver las películas. - jellonz, Mar 21, 2017
Sometimes it takes time to fully edit out my mistakes meanwhile people think that I have finished but I may press submit many times and they review my work so far! - FELIZ77, Mar 21, 2017
When i am finally finished, I will isually add the request: Corrijan mi español si es necesario, por favor:) - FELIZ77, Mar 21, 2017
Usually add Sometimes they are not my errors, but caused by the predictive text function on my phone keyboard which changes any word that I do not confirm - FELIZ77, Mar 21, 2017
Thank you for your vote and keeping me on my toes! ;) - FELIZ77, Mar 21, 2017
No worries Feliz - For most of us editing is our only recourse to perfection. In future I'll wait :) - jellonz, Mar 21, 2017
Morning Feliz. Re yesterday's correction offering I'm pretty sure your second and third examples should use "encanta" and "gusta" not "encantan" and "gustan" because they are referring to the verb "ver" not the plural "las peliculas." - jellonz, Mar 22, 2017
That's what I learnt anyway, but if it is incorrect please let me know. Cheers. - jellonz, Mar 22, 2017
Jellonz, that's what I use d to think but when doing the Cervantes online Spanish test recently I got a question using that verb marked incorrect . - FELIZ77, Mar 23, 2017
The question is: A mis amigas...las compras.Using the drop down box otions, I chose, Les gusta and it msrked my answer: incorrect! - FELIZ77, Mar 23, 2017
The correct answer is A mis amigas me gustan las compras. When you use verbs like gustar and encantar the subject of the sentence is ir 9 - FELIZ77, Mar 23, 2017
sentence is: las compras not, mis amigas and because las compras is always in the plural in Spanish like las vacaciones (holiday/s) it translates as Shopping (subject) is pleasing to my friends.(object) I hope this helps :) - FELIZ77, Mar 23, 2017
Sorry, vital correction: answer should be les gustan, not me gustan - FELIZ77, Mar 23, 2017
Yep, but in that case "las compras" is a noun. It is comparable to your "Me encantan las películas" sentence, which is correct. - jellonz, Mar 23, 2017
But in your other two sentences the subject is a verb "ver." When "gustar" and "encantar" refer to a verb subject I'm 99% sure they conjugate to third person singular. - jellonz, Mar 23, 2017

Me gustan las películas. This is the alternative way to say as well.

NKM, the verb gustar is used to mean to be pleasing to, or as we say ien English to like The verb encantar is stronger and means to love to do something . not simply to like to do something. By adding the word mucho it intensifies th verb gustar and makes - FELIZ77, Mar 22, 2017
... the meaning stronger but it is not the same as encantar which can mean to love doing something - FELIZ77, Mar 22, 2017
feliz. All you say is correct. But it is much more common to say me gustan las películas than me encantan las películas for just one reason. It is rare to find soneone who likes them all. It would be more common if you are speaking about the cinema or a - 000a35ff, Mar 22, 2017
Kind of cinema. Me encanta el cine de terror or me encantan las películas de miedo - 000a35ff, Mar 22, 2017
Or just me encanta el cine - 000a35ff, Mar 22, 2017
Muchas gracias por tu explicación, Astoxtua :) Entiendo y tienes razón. :) - FELIZ77, Mar 23, 2017

She loves in Spanish "ella ama", I love "amo", he loves "él ama", and we love "nos encanta".
