Marvellous Website for Learning Spanish - Lengalia.com
I have frequented dozens of websites during the last few years to learn Spanish. There are many, many good ones and they all have their strengths and weaknesses. A couple of months ago I came across a website that is heads and tails above any that I have ever visited. About the only drawback is that it is not free...it costs $99 per year for full access, but, in my opinion, it is worth that, and much more.
Lengalia has 23 sections for Spanish learning...from grammar, to traveling, doing business, medical terminology, Spanish and Latin American culture, Spanish cooking, vocabulary, etc. And each of these 23 sections has an average of about a dozen lessons. And each lesson has readings, audio files to listen to, videos to watch and tons of questions (mostly multiple choice) to check your understanding. In all, there are several thousand questions to test and reinforce your learning.
I find the audio and video sections to be incredible and they range from very easy to very difficult. Much of the content used on Lengalia is from real-word articles pulls from newspapers, magazines, blogs, wikipedia articles, etc. The videos are mostly from third parties on You Tube. When taking a video lesson, you click on the lesson link in Lenglalia and it opens a new window on you browser on You Tube. Once there you can choose to watch with or without subtitles. After the lesson, you go back to Lengalia to answer several questions about the video.
Another impressive thing about Lengalia is the depth of grammar that it teaches. The advanced lessons are truly challenging. The grammar lessons are well written. After taking each lesson you are thoroughly tested, first with simple multiple choice questions and then with entire real-life texts and audio files. At the end of each lesson is a one-hour overall comprehension test for levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2 grammar levels.
There is a free 3 day trial, including a placement test so you can try it out.
