Look at the conjugations of a few stem changing verbs. Identify the conjugations that change stem and the ones that don’t. Sometimes these stem-changing verbs are called ‘boot verbs’. Can you think of why?

yo: juego

nosotros: jugamos

tú: juegas

vosotros: jugáis

él/ella/ud: juega

ellos/as/uds: juegan

Hi Marie Are you enjoying learning Spanish? Do you have a teacher or are you teaching yourself? Your questions look like they are copied directly from a text book.

With verb conjugations you need to be able to learn them so you can use them effortlessly. I enjoy listening to music and also finding patterns in verbs. With stem changing verbs you will soon get a sixth sense of which ones change. In effect with boot verbs, nosotros and vosotros don't change. NB some which change are simply changes of spelling because the spelling according to the rules would be pronounced differently.

Here is the piece about 'boot' verbs on this site. It is worth checking the resources and previous answers before making the ffort to type a question

If you google an image of 'boot verb', you will see why it is called a boot verb. In the verb, jugar, the verb changes in the yo, tú, el/ella/usted, and ellos/ellas/ustedes form.
