Please proofread this translation. The Spanish text is from an article; the translation is mine:

After mentioning the different types of universities, he ruled out the “Anglo-Saxon” and “German” models (“because they are not compatible with our mentality and customs”). Therefore, he pointed out “the need (considering ´our economic conditions of population and personnel) of ´taking as a model that of the little universities of the ´Latin` type (such as those of Lausanne in Switzerland and Strasburg in France), that ´on a small scale…fulfill the conditions of modernity, seriousness, order, and solidness of studies.”

After mentioning the different types of universities, he ruled out the “Anglo-Saxon” and “German” models (“because they are not compatible with our mentality and customs”). Therefore, he pointed out “the need (considering ´our economic conditions of population and personnel) of ´taking to use as a model that of the little universities of the ´Latin` type (such as those of Lausanne in Switzerland and Strasburg in France), that ´on a small scale…fulfill the conditions of modernity, seriousness, order, and solidness of studies.”

Very well done, just needs a little wordsmithing in my opinion.

I think it reads better simply removing the (that of).

I prefer "need to take" over "need of taking". I get less confused by all the "of"s that way. I prefer even better switching take to use.

Great work, Bosque :) I would also change the word 'small' for the word little universities This is just a matter of personal style not because there is actually anything wrong with the word little in this context I just think that small sounds better - FELIZ77, Mar 2, 2017
I agree, either is correct, but small sounds a bit more refined there. :) - bosquederoble, Mar 2, 2017
