Hi, I am taking the unit 3 test tomorrow. The spanish teacher told me to study on this:

Obligation Forms: Tener que + Infinitive

What does this mean? Please explain. Thanks!

Why not ask your teacher to explain it more fully ? - ray76, Feb 23, 2017
I got this, Ray. Some teachers don't teach like I do. - Daniela2041, Feb 23, 2017
Besides which, the test is tomorrow. No time to ask the teacher. - Daniela2041, Feb 23, 2017
I used to sometimes find when I got home I realised I hadn't understood it all particularly as the instructions would all be in Spanish at the end of a long lesson! It isn't always possible to contact teacher at short notice - Mardle, Feb 23, 2017

The use of "tener + que + infinitive" is the Spanish equivalent of "I have to + some action.

I have to study the lesson. Tengo que estudiar la lección.

Alex has to do the homework. Alex tiene que hacer la tarea

We have to attend class tomorrow. Tenemos que asistir a clase mañana

With these three models you should do OK.

Buena Suerte.
