Welcome to SpanishDict. Have you asked one and didn't get an answer? We get to the questions as soon as we can. - rac1, Feb 21, 2017
It's not a question of how long it takes to get an answer. I told you when you posted your homework, that you would need to write your own attempts and then someone would help with any needed corrections and explanations. - rac1, Feb 21, 2017

Hello Isaac

Welcome to our SpanishDict Community forum smile

You asked:

How long does it take to get your question answered?

Very good question! smile

In my experience of being a member here for nearly 7 years, the time it takes to answer your question will vary to some extent from about half an hour to a few hours depending on how simple your question / request is, how clearly you have phrased (written) your question and the number of experienced Spanish speakers who may be online at the time you submit your question! smile

Very simple (basic) questions or requests for help can be answered in as little as five or ten minutes and do not requiere any advanced (specialist) Spanish knowledge, skills or experience! More complex tasks such as responding to a request to proof read or check a long piece of text may requiere a native Spanish speaker or an advanced level student.

I would say that the rule of thumb (guide line) is: The more simple/basic the knowledge, skills or experience requiered, and the more people who could answer it: the less time you will need to wait! Your wait could vary between ten minutes to half an hour. For skills requiring an intermediate level student: I would say bewteen half an hour to four hours but a more complex question or help with advanced translation or proof reading anywhere from two hours to two or three days as we only have a limited number of native Spanish speakers as active members kindly offering their services at the moment.! It all depends on who is actively online when you first post your question!

We do not do people's homework for them but instead we encourage people to post their best attempt and then after reading it through we are happy to offer corrections, guidance and advice! wink

We also try to encourage people to do what (as much as) they can for themselves and make full use of all the resources on SpanishDict. Much of the time, if all our members especially new members, were to use the resources such as the translator and dictionary before posting very basic questions such as: What does the word 'señor' mean? they would not only receive much quicker answers but would also free up experienced speakers to answer more of the difficult and time consuming questions.

Finally, if you would like or need a quick response please make it clear when posting your question and good manners such as using please and thank you are always well appreciated and invariably receive more positive responses! The only warning here is: please don't leave doing your homework until the last minute and then post it expecting instant responses! wink

I hope this helps smile

Usually not very long. Sometimes a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the difficulty of your question and the clarity with which you express yourself.

If you post a question asking people to look for mistakes in an entire paragraph or something of the sort, it is pretty likely it will never get answered or someone will come on and tell you SpanishDict does not answer such questions. On the other hand, if it a question like, "What is "depend" in spanish" answers will come really quickly. (In my opinion, a lot of people seem to be on in the later afternoon)

Hope it helps!

Thank you. - Isaac_Henn, Feb 21, 2017
SpanishDict most certainly answers proofreading questions and I don't know of one time anyone was told that we don't answer such questions. The questions we don't give answers to is someone's homework. We expect them to make an attempt first as per the - rac1, Feb 21, 2017
