corazonada ( ko-rah-soh-nah'-dah

noun ( hunch, feeling; impulse )

Welcome to La Palabra Del Día

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Examples:

1: Tengo la corazonada de que nos volveremos a ver muy pronto.

I have a hunch we'll see each other again very soon.

2: Llámalo corazonada, pero creo que vamos a ganar el torneo.

Call it a hunch, but I think we're going to win the tournament.

I don't know if this will be a pattern but I like seeing the new assignment pop up closely after the new word is listed on SD. It gives me more opportunity to post at a time when more people will eventually view it. - Sassette, Feb 17, 2017
Hola hermosita. Have a great weekend. Gracias :-)! - Jraider, Feb 17, 2017

Corazonada y presentimiento are synonyms in Spanish, the first is a female noun and the latter is a male noun.

Examples:

Tengo la corazonada de que nos volveremos a ver muy pronto

Tengo el presentimiento de que nos volveremos a ver muy pronto

I have a hunch we'll see each other again very soon

A pesar de lo que dice la doctora, las coronozadas muchas veces son basadas en prejuiciios y suposiciones incorrectas.

Despite what the doctor says, hunches are often based on prejudice and incorrect assumptions.

Tengo una corozonada mala del extraño por que se ve peligroso y parece que está hablando solo.

I have a bad feeling about that stranger because he looks dangerous and it seems like he's talking to himself.

I have a bad feeling about this. lol - rac1, Feb 17, 2017
I would have written "hablando sí mismo." Only someone who has better Spanish skills than me can provide verification on the correct way to write "talking to himself." - Sassette, Feb 17, 2017
According to my research it is "hablando consigo" or for greater emphasis "hablando consigo mismo". - mstivers, Feb 17, 2017
"Hablando solo" is perfect everyday Spanish. "hablando sí mismo" never. "hablando consigo" is missing "mismo", so it would be "hablando consigo mismo" very formal Spanish. - DoctorSpanish, Feb 17, 2017
Go with your gut :-)! - Jraider, Feb 17, 2017

"Spanish"... "day by day, but I".... ...."There is no one to speak with on Skype. I am".... Don't be discouraged, we are all in the same boat, more or less. There are sites you can practice your speaking, but there are members here that talk on Skype - rac1, Feb 17, 2017

Logic will take you from A to Z; The imagination will take you everywhere Albert Einstein.

La sentencia del gran científico nos también enseña que lo está importante de perseguir nuestros corazonadas, sino nuestra vida quedará muy simple.

The judgment of the great scientist also teaches us that it is important to pursue our hunches, but our life will be very simple.

En campos sobre los que sé mucho, normalmente mis corazonadas resultan ciertas, pero en campos sobre los que sé muy poco mis corazonadas con frecuencia están equivocadas.

In areas that I know a lot about, normally my hunches turn out to be correct, but in areas about which I know very little my hunches are often wrong.
