Ordering coffee

I believe that ordering coffee can change a bit from place to place in Spain. I am travelling to Andalucia soon and would like to know how to order a strong long black or a double shot long black. Please help out a coffee addict.

I din't know what "long black" was: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_black - bosquederoble, Feb 16, 2017
Long black - 120 to 180mls of water with an espresso (or double espresso) shot poured on top of the water. Its incorrect to add the water to the espresso shot for risk of dissipating the crema. - bosquederoble, Feb 16, 2017
Sounds similar to café americano, but more particular about the order of adding things. :) - bosquederoble, Feb 16, 2017
Try a "Cortado" they are delicious , especialmente en la mañana con tostado. - ray76, Feb 20, 2017
I love cortado but it does have a dash of milk [hot or cold] - Mardle, Feb 20, 2017
Yes it does , but it is also cheaper . - ray76, Feb 20, 2017
Melbourne is the "Coffee capital of the world" but I still think that coffee in Spain is the best by far. - ray76, Feb 20, 2017

Two of my favorite podcasts have episodes specifically related to how to order different types of coffee...

This one is from Spain, it's called SpanishPodcast.org - it's wonderful. Here is the episode: http://spanishpodcast.org/podcasts/cortodecafe.html

This one is Mexican Spanish, it may not be exactly what you're looking for but it still may have something of interest for you... Here is the coffee episode http://doorwaytomexico.com/episodes/coffee-shop/

  • ContCafé Solo – espresso

    • Café Doble – double espresso.

    • Café con Leche – coffee with milk, usually half and half proportionally, but it depends

on the region.

  • Café Cortado – espresso with a dash of milk

    • Café con Hielo – espresso with ice.
