Noun for "Gamble" in Spanish?

In the context of:

"I consider this decision to be a gamble"

I keep coming across "Una apuesta" but that seems to me more like a bet.

Thanks, Louis

"RIESGO" In Spanish it would go like this "Considero que esta decisión es un riesgo"

But what if it is a sure fire bet and not a risk ? - ray76, Feb 9, 2017
In his sentence, he is not talking about any bet, he's talking about a "decision" which he considers to be a "gamble" in Spanish in this context "gamble" means "Riesgo" - DoctorSpanish, Feb 9, 2017
If it's a sure-fire bet, it's also not a gamble! - jtaniel, Feb 9, 2017

I agree with DoctorSpanish. To consider some non-gaming event a "gamble" is idiomatic In English. Spanish speakers will not use that word. They will say it as did DoctorSpanish or one can use an adjective. "arrisgado" as in "Lo considero algo arriesgado." Or "I consider it risky."

**Esta apuesta de$100 , es una apuesta bien pero no un riesgo..

This bet of $100 , is a good bet but not a riskemphasized text.

If this is correct does it explau " apuesto " ?

But of course much is assumed as to whether it is colloquially correct ,I am a beginner in reality here amigo I appreciate your help. - ray76, Feb 9, 2017
Apuesto/apostar has to do mainly with "gaming activities" Other types of "gambles" in Spanish are considered "risks." - Daniela2041, Feb 9, 2017

De acuerdo, pero en el caso de "gamble" siendo jerga de "algo arriesgado" fuera del juego de apostar, digamos "azar moral" y sólo cuando tiene que ver con un tratamiento de negocios - por lo menos en México así es - 005faa61, Feb 19, 2017
