Yo estaba platicando con una amiga por Facebook. Ella terminó la conversación con "Cuídate mucho va." No sé el propósito de usar "va" al final de la frase.

In this case "va" is used to make sure somebody is doing what you are asking him or her to do, "Cuídate mucho va." take a lot of care, will you?/ no hables con extraños en el metro,va? it's really a tag question. This use of "VA" is very common in Venezuela and Colombia.

I believe va is short for vale, okay.

Take care of yourself, okay

We use to say "¿sale?" however some people also say "¿vale?". Another word is "¿va?" (I'm Mexican)

Correction to his English "we usually say".

As explained, it's a regional usage.

In other countries, you'll find va replaced by ya.
